Abstrakt: This article discusses the utility of circulating tumor DNA (ctDNA) in patients with appendiceal adenocarcinomas (AA). The study aimed to develop ctDNA assays from mucinous tumors and understand the shedding rate of ctDNA in peripheral plasma before and after surgery. The results showed that ctDNA assays were generated for 64% of patients, and common somatic mutations in AA were identified. However, ctDNA was only detected in one patient before surgery and none postoperatively. The study suggests that ctDNA may have limited utility in patients with AA. [Extracted from the article]
