Viewing to add value to recycled polymer, the dyeability of composite of recycled poly(ethylene terephthalate) (rPET) with pristine and zinc–silver-modified titanium phosphate (TiP) was studied. TiP was synthesized and consecutively modified with ethylamine, pyromellitic acid, zinc acetate, and silver nitrate. A composite of rPET with unmodified and modified TiP (1 wt%) was prepared by melting extrusion. Thermal, crystallographic, and dyeing characteristics were assessed. X-ray fluorescence revealed the presence of elements for PET synthesis and processing stabilizers. Differential scanning calorimetry and thermogravimetry data were not impacted by processing and fillers. The dye incorporation and retention were successful. Retention was better for the composites. The work highlighted the feasibility of PET recycling and that the material presents potential application for textile industry. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR] |
