This article describes the case of a 49-year-old man who was hospitalized with acute heart failure and suspected acute myocarditis. The patient underwent an endomyocardial biopsy, which revealed a diagnosis of giant cell myocarditis (GCM). Despite treatment with immunosuppressive therapy, the patient's condition did not improve, and he ultimately received a heart transplant. The article provides a detailed description of the histological findings and discusses the rarity and pathogenesis of GCM. It also highlights the challenges in diagnosing GCM and the potential role of biopsy in guiding treatment decisions. [Extracted from the article] |
