Abstrakt: | A recent study conducted at Texas Tech University Health Sciences Center examined the coexistence of Graves' disease (GD) and primary aldosteronism (PA) in a patient with a history of pre-eclampsia. The patient presented with mild hyperthyroidism during pregnancy, which later developed into severe hyperthyroidism and hypertensive crisis. The patient was diagnosed with PA and GD, and both conditions were successfully treated separately with spironolactone and thyroidectomy. The study suggests that the diagnosis of PA should be considered in cases of hypertension with GD. [Extracted from the article] |
