The failure of current recommendations to stem the diabetes epidemic, the specific failure of popular low-fat diets to reduce obesity, cardiovascular risk, or overall health, and the recurrent reports of some serious adverse effects of frequently prescribed diabetic medications, combined with the current success of low-carbohydrate diets in the diagnosis of metabolic disease without major side effects, point to the need for a cognitive appraisal of current recommendations. Restricting carbohydrates has been shown to improve diabetes symptoms right away. Long-term, speculative, and unsupported by research are the main concerns regarding efficacy and safety. Although weight loss is not necessary (although it is still ideal), dietary carbohydrate restriction consistently lowers high blood glucose and results in a decrease or cessation of medication. It has never demonstrated negative side effects on par with those of several medications. Here, we offer 12 pieces of evidence that show low-carb diets are the best complement to pharmacotherapy in type 1diabetes and the first line of treatment for type 2 diabetes. They stand for the most reliable and uncontroversial findings. It is unprecedented in science to insist that long-term randomized controlled trials are the only type of data that will be accepted. We must assess all of the current evidence because of how severe diabetes is. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR] |
