A study conducted by researchers at Nantong University in China has found that Fagopyrum cymosum capsules may have a protective effect on rats with ulcerative colitis. The capsules were shown to alleviate symptoms such as weight loss, diarrhea, and colon damage. They also improved the expression of proteins involved in maintaining the intestinal barrier and reduced inflammation in the colon. Additionally, the capsules were found to remodel the gut microbiota, promoting the growth of beneficial bacteria and inhibiting pathogenic organisms. These findings suggest that Fagopyrum cymosum capsules could be a potential treatment for colitis by improving intestinal barrier function and reshaping the gut microbiota.
