A recent study conducted by researchers at the University of Massachusetts Chan Medical School examined the prevalence of hypertension among persons living with HIV/AIDS (PLHIV) and its association with HIV-related health factors. The study found that hypertension was a common condition among PLHIV on antiretroviral medications, and traditional risk factors such as increased age, higher BMI, and a history of comorbid medical conditions were associated with higher odds of hypertension. However, no HIV-related health factors were found to be associated with hypertension. This research provides valuable insights into the cardiovascular health of PLHIV and highlights the importance of managing traditional risk factors for hypertension in this population.
