The aim of the study was to analyze the state of human resources in sheep farms in Bulgaria. The following indicators were studied - age of owners, level of education, number and gender of employed persons (staff), appointment of a manager, occupational accidents, working conditions, completed courses for additional training, instruction and training of personnel on labour safety and productivity enhancement. The research was conducted by collecting survey information from 22 sheep farms. A correlation analysis was performed to establish dependencies between indicators. It was found that 50% of the owners of the studied sheep farms were between 40 and 49 years of age, prevailing those with secondary education (63.6%) and from male gender (86.4%). Significant high positive correlation was observed between the total number of employed persons in sheep farms and the number of employed women (r = 0.794**), as well as between the number of total employed persons and the number of persons with primary education (r = 0.886**). A positive moderate correlation dependence (r = 0.485*) was established between the age of the owner and the appointment of a manager of the farm, and as the age of the owner increases, there is an increase in cases of appointing a manager. Only in one of the studied farms was registered 1 case of occupational accident. It was found that in more than half of the farms (59.1%) the working conditions are at a good level, certain gaps are observed in 31.8% of the farms studied, and in 9.1% of the farms the working conditions are not at the required level. The majority of farmers (54.5%) have not completed any additional training course. The remaining 45.5% of farmers attended courses in sheep breeding, animal welfare, agroecology, cheese production, artificial insemination, transport of live animals, dairying.
