Abstrakt: Preservation and targeted use of plant gene fund is national responsibility and priority and the successful implementation of which is directly dependent on the good coordination between all contractors and stakeholders. The IPGR-Sadovo is the National Coordinator for the European Program for Plant Genetic Resources. The scientific fields are coordinated in line with the priorities of European Commission for agriculture and rural development. The gene fund is a public resource and thus the information activities are the basis for guaranteeing of access for all users. IPGR supports specialized register which contains information about all accessions preserved in the genebank. The aim of the BGPLANTNET project is optimization and increasing the quality and efficiency of the preservation process and use of plant genetic resources at national level by establishment of national information system in accordance with the international standards of FAO/Bioversity. As an outcome the work in the genebank will be significantly improved by guaranteeing the functionality and security of the documentation system as well as access to the gene fund to all stakeholders, in accordance with signed at the national level documents, such as the International Treaty on Plant Genetic Resources for Food and Agriculture and the Nagoya Protocol. Free access has high scientific and social impact with its functions to serve a large number of consumers as scientists, crop breeders, farmers (including bio-producers), NGOs, eco organizations, students, researchers in the field of agricultural sciences.
