Abstrakt: Researchers at Institut Pprime UPR 3346 in Poitiers, France, have conducted a biomechanical feasibility study using 7T magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) and digital volume correlation (DVC) to evaluate the impact of ramp lesions on joint kinematics and loading in the medial compartment. The study focused on comparing the mobility of the medial meniscus in native knees versus knees affected by grade 4 ramp lesions. The results showed that ramp lesions increased meniscal extrusion and posterior mobility during axial compression. The researchers plan to expand their study to include weight-bearing MRI to identify insufficiency or rupture in patients and reduce the risk of osteoarthritic progression.
