A recent study conducted by researchers at Al-Azhar University in Cairo, Egypt explored the relationship between childhood asthma and attention deficit hyperactivity disorder (ADHD) in individuals with autism spectrum disorders (ASD). The study found that children with ASD and ADHD had higher levels of the cytokine IL-17, which is associated with inflammation and asthma. Additionally, when T cells were stimulated, children with ASD and ADHD produced more IL-17 compared to children with ASD alone. These findings suggest a potential link between asthma, ADHD, and ASD, highlighting the importance of further research in this area. [Extracted from the article] |
