A recent study conducted by researchers at the University of Illinois College of Medicine explored subfactors of cognitive disengagement syndrome (CDS) in adults with attention-deficit/hyperactivity disorder (ADHD). The study found that CDS can be conceptualized as two distinct but positively correlated constructs: "Cognitive Complaints" and "Lethargy." Both subfactors were associated with self-reported psychological symptoms, with Cognitive Complaints also predicting inattention symptoms. Additionally, both subfactors showed negative correlations with cognitive performance, particularly in working memory, processing speed, and executive functioning. These findings provide new insights into the relationship between CDS, symptoms, and cognitive performance in adults with ADHD. [Extracted from the article] |
