A study conducted at Shahid Chamran Heart Hospital in Isfahan, Iran, evaluated the adherence to antimicrobial prophylaxis guidelines for surgical site infections in cardiac surgeries. The study found that while adherence to the guidelines for the type of antimicrobial agent was high, there were lower rates of adherence for dosing, re-dosing, and duration of antimicrobial prophylaxis. The researchers recommend the development of a local guideline to improve adherence. This research provides valuable insights into the prevention of surgical site infections in cardiac surgeries.
