A study conducted by Brawijaya University in East Java, Indonesia, explores the potential benefits of a combination of coffee, green tea, and turmeric extract (ECGTT) in preventing heart damage in individuals with metabolic syndrome. The researchers identified chlorogenic acid (CGA), epigallocatechin gallate (EGCG), and curcumin as the main metabolites in ECGTT. The study found that ECGTT administration decreased the expression of inflammatory markers and increased the expression of SERCA2a, a protein involved in heart function. The researchers concluded that coffee, green tea, and turmeric may help prevent heart dysfunction in individuals with metabolic syndrome by modulating oxidative stress and inflammation.
