Abstrakt: A new study conducted by researchers at the Mayo Clinic in Rochester, Minnesota, has investigated the predictors of incidental durotomy in patients undergoing pedicle subtraction osteotomy (PSO) for the correction of adult spinal deformity (ASD). The study found that a history of prior decompression at the PSO level was associated with a four-fold increase in the risk of intraoperative durotomy. However, the use of extended versus standard PSO, surgical technique, and baseline patient characteristics did not predict durotomy. The study suggests that further prospective investigations are needed to better understand this issue. [Extracted from the article]
