Abstrakt: Researchers from the University of Konstanz in Germany have developed a new assessment tool called the 'Digital Tools Test' (DIGI) to evaluate an individual's proficiency in using smartphones and tablets. The DIGI assessment is primarily designed for older adults and neurological patients, who may struggle with handling digital tools. The study found that older adults performed significantly worse on the DIGI assessment compared to younger adults, and their performance was correlated with their ability to use novel mechanical tools. The researchers suggest that further evaluation of the DIGI assessment is needed to improve digital tool competency assessments and rehabilitation strategies. [Extracted from the article]
