A recent systematic review conducted by researchers at Pontifical University Javeriana examined the prognosis and treatment outcomes for primary hepatic angiosarcoma, a rare type of tumor. The review analyzed 15 articles involving 886 patients and found that surgical resection resulted in increased overall survival compared to non-surgical management. However, the median survival rate for patients with primary liver angiosarcoma was only 7 months, highlighting the poor prognosis associated with this condition. The researchers emphasized the need for standardized diagnostic and treatment protocols and further studies to improve outcomes for patients with this challenging disease.
