A recent study conducted by researchers from Can Tho University of Medicine and Pharmacy in Vietnam explores the impact of fintech's development on bank performance in the country. The study utilizes text mining techniques and bank-level data from 15 Vietnamese banks to analyze the relationship between fintech and bank profitability. The findings suggest that fintech's development has a significant impact on bank profitability, but not on net interest margin. The study also highlights the slow banking transformation in response to fintech and the increased bank profitability during the COVID-19 pandemic. The researchers provide recommendations for banks and fintech companies and propose directions for further research. [Extracted from the article] |
