A recent study conducted by researchers at Masaryk University has found that emergency medicine pharmacotherapy can compromise the accuracy of plasma creatinine determination by enzyme-based methods. The study analyzed 8,498 patient samples and found that in 1.97% of hospital specimens, the enzyme method produced lower creatinine values compared to the Jaffe gen. 2 method. This discrepancy was attributed to drug-related interferences in a polymedicated urgent care hospital population. The researchers concluded that the creatinine enzyme method may produce unreliable results in such cases. [Extracted from the article] |
