Abstrakt: Digitalization has become a buzzword in global development discourse, hence digitalized governance signifies both latent and manifest opportunities for realization of the projected 2030 UN Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs). Correspondingly, to point out the value that this catchword portends for local governance is to provide evidence of the existence or otherwise of a digitalization-driven governance mentality. Drawing insight from the Nigerian experience, the paper utilized secondary data to analyze a research framework based on situational, institutional and dispositional themes to examine the broad institution of e-local governance and its implication for accelerating attainment of the 2030 SDGs in local jurisdictions of the country. The data were drawn from a PhD work to evaluate how Nigerian local governments are undermined to digitalize their operations particularly through the intergovernmental relations with state governments. Nigerian state governments usually suffocate local autonomy to the detriment of entrenching E-local governance. This condition ultimately incapacitates Nigerian local governments from taking-off to actualize the SDGs of the United Nations (UN). It recommends sustenance of local autonomy in Nigeria to enable full blown E-local governance application that will add significant strides to digitalized local governance for optimum attainment of the 2030 SDGs target.
