This article presents several research papers on cardiology. Shock on the paced T-wave is a commonly used method to induce ventricular fibrillation (VF) during the implantation of cardioverter defibrillators. However, a most effective coupling interval for delivery of the shock has not yet been determined. Twenty patients undergoing implantation of cardioverter defibrillators were included. The most effective coupling interval for the low energy shock is at 400 ms, pacing length the initial third of the T-wave, 30 ms after the refractory period. In another paper, the effects of endocardial lead placement on defibrillation threshold are poorly investigated. Therefore the objective of this study was to evaluate the influence of three different right ventricular lead positions on defibrillation efficacy. Defibrillation energy requirements depend on the position of the distal spring in the right ventricle. |
