Abstrakt: An extensive review of the literature dealing with chronic relapsing pustular eruptions of the extremities has been made. Fifty-one patients suffering from. such eruptions have been studied from the clinical, histopathological and therapeutic aspects. Patients with psoriasis Present before the onset of the pustular eruption have been excluded. The cases were found to fall into three well-defined groups on clinical, histopathological and therapeutic grounds. To these groups the names dermatitis repens, acrodermatitis continua and pustulosis palmaris et plantaris have been attached. (i) Dermatitis repens—these cases bear the characteristics enumerated by (`rocker and are most probably due to bacterial infection of the skin. (ii) Acrodermatitis continua—these cases correspond to those described by Hallopeau and later classed as the forme type : suppurative et multilante and the forme maligne by Audry. A localized and a generalized form of this disease exist. (iii) Pustulosis palmaris et plantaris—this appears to represent a form of individual response rather than a specific disease, and is more common in women. In none of the three groups was there any demonstrable relationship to psoriasis. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]
