Abstrakt: The qualities of a composite may be enhanced by the addition of several components, including nanoparticles. Different moieties can interact with one another through strong covalent bonds as well as weak physical interactions such as hydrogen bonds, Van der Waals contacts, hydrophobic interactions, and electrostatic interactions. Chitosan/in situ gelatin-magnesium silicate nanocomposites were prepared by the sol–gel method. The composition and structure of the nanocomposites were studied by FTIR and XRD techniques. The morphology is obtained by FE-SEM. The optical diffuse reflectance (Rd) was employed to study the absorbance behavior of the nanocomposite and extract their energy gap, refractive indices, optical dielectric, and optical electronegativity. Scanning electron microscope images reveal that a large portion of the sample surface was occupied by regularly distributed caves over the gelatin-MgO/chitosan construct, which occurred because of the dense aggregated polymeric clusters. The antimicrobial effectiveness of the nanocomposites exhibited remarkable enhancement in the antimicrobial activities that candidate it for bio-applications. The biocomposites exhibit a developed antibacterial activity which increased with increasing chitosan content and cross-linking density. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]
