Abstrakt: | A recent study conducted in North-East India explored the relationship between vitamin D levels and tumor necrosis factor-a (TNF-a) activity in newly diagnosed patients with type 2 diabetes mellitus (DM). The study found that individuals with type 2 DM had significantly lower levels of vitamin D and higher levels of TNF-a compared to non-diabetics. There was also a negative correlation between vitamin D and glycated hemoglobin (HbA1c), and a positive correlation between HbA1c and TNF-a. These findings suggest that vitamin D and TNF-a may have diagnostic significance and could potentially be targeted for innovative strategies in managing type 2 DM. [Extracted from the article] |
