Abstrakt: A researcher from the University of Nigeria Teaching Hospital has published a report on atypical Mpox cases in a Nigerian tertiary health facility. The study analyzed clinical and epidemiological data from 17 suspected cases, of which 13 were confirmed through PCR testing. The patients exhibited diverse clinical characteristics, including rash, genital lesions, and prolonged prodrome. The research highlights the need for improved clinical recognition, diagnosis, and prevention in resource-limited settings, as well as the inclusion of Mpox screening for genital skin lesions. Further evaluation and enhanced surveillance are necessary for early recognition and prevention of spread. [Extracted from the article]
