A scoping review conducted by researchers at University Hospital Basel in Switzerland examined the impact of adjuvant radiotherapy on free flap volume in autologous breast reconstruction. The review analyzed six two-armed studies involving a total of 462 patients and found conflicting results regarding the effect of radiotherapy on flap volume. While two studies reported a significant negative impact, four studies did not. The researchers concluded that further studies are needed to investigate this potential correlation.
