Abstrakt: New research on personalized medicine conducted by the Laboratory of Cellular and Molecular Pathology of Cardiovascular System in Moscow, Russia, focuses on the role of mitochondria in various diseases. The study investigated the effects of 5-aminolevulinic acid on mitochondrial activity in cells with different mutation loads. The results showed that while the acid was metabolized equally in all cell lines, there was a significant decrease in mitochondrial potential, which varied among the lines. The findings suggest that personalized therapeutic approaches based on different mitochondrial activities could be developed. [Extracted from the article]
