Dancemakers, a long-standing dance company in Toronto, is currently undergoing a significant transformation. The company faced financial difficulties and reduced support, leading to its closure in 2021. However, a new board of artists has taken charge to reimagine the organization's future. Through a research initiative led by the Laboratory for Artistic Intelligence, four artists conducted individual research residencies to inform Dancemakers' direction. The research focused on conflict transformation, working agreements, and accessibility in dance, aligning with the organization's progressive values.
