In recent years, translator group has attracted academic attention as a hot topic in translation study and historical research. In the modern history of China, a group of unique translators have emerged in Hubei province. From the perspective of translation history, this paper studies modern Hubei translators. To be specific, on the basis of clarifying the general information about them, the paper examines their translation texts, characteristics of their activities, and the social history of the activities from the perspective of "internal history" an d "external history". It is found that compared with the modern period before 1949, there are obvious differences in the number of translators, translation texts, and the directionality in translation after 1949, owing to the social development of New China. The paper illustrates the social characteristics of translation in order to show Hubei translators' significant contribution to the development of modern China. This paper hopes to promote the studies on translator group. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR] |
