Abstrakt: This article explores the valuation of intellectual capital, specifically human capital, in small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) in Ecuador. The study examines the relationship between intellectual capital and human capital in these businesses. The findings reveal that microenterprises, small companies, and medium-sized companies are representative of Ecuador's economy, but there are issues with low-quality jobs and minimum wages in microenterprises. The study suggests that valuing human capital in SMEs can enhance a sense of belonging, commitment, and productivity. Additionally, the document discusses the concept of intellectual capital, its measurement in SMEs, and the importance of SMEs in Latin America's economic development. The authors emphasize the significance of factors such as values, attitudes, skills, and abilities in the development of SMEs, and highlight the importance of hiring experienced workers, providing specialized training, and promoting teamwork to improve productivity and product quality.
