Abstrakt: The paper aims to focus attention on some documents contained in the Marcello Argilli's archival collection of the MuSEd (Museo della Scuola e dell'Educazione "Mauro Laeng") and specifically concerning the modern fairy tale and its relationship with reading and the new mass media, a theme very dear to the theoretical reflections of the Roman writer. In this regard, an attempt is made to bring out from the various writings analysed (articles in sector journals and texts of reports at conferences and meetings) Argilli's thoughts on the subject, with the intention also of highlighting what may be the topical aspects of his reflections in a society such as ours in which the themes of the relationship between written text and digital reality, the plurality of languages and the relationship between children and reading, take on a character of complexity.
