A combined avulsion of both the latissimus dorsi muscle and teres major muscle is a rare occurrence and data focused on the treatment of this type of injury is limited to case studies and series. This case report presents the outcomes of early surgical repair for avulsions of the latissimus dorsi and teres major tendons in a highdemanding athlete. The patient underwent surgical repair using a single incision technique and endosteal button fixation of the avulsed tendons. This procedure was performed within 4weeks of the initial injury, followed by a progressive mobilisation regimen in the postoperative phase. After a period of 3months, the patient successfully participated in his first international competition. This report describes the effectiveness of early surgical repair after latissimus dorsi and teres major tendon avulsion. The single incision technique and the use of endosteal buttons for tendon fixation yielded excellent results for a professional judoka. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR] |
