A recent study has found that patients with alcohol use disorder (AUD) have increased rates of dementia and diagnosis at a younger age, compared with patients without AUD. If alcohol‐related liver disease is also present, that increases the diagnosis rate and age of diagnosis further, according to the study, "Disentangling the contributions of alcohol use disorder and alcohol‐related liver disease towards dementia: A population‐based cohort study," which is by Sixian Zhao and colleagues and published in the January issue of Addiction.
