Abstrakt: A recent report from researchers at Shenyang Agricultural University in China explores the effects of taurine on the intestinal barrier function, colonic microbiota, and metabolites in weanling piglets induced by LPS. The study found that taurine supplementation improved the growth and barrier functions of the intestine in piglets, reduced colonic villous damage, and up-regulated the expression of certain genes and proteins associated with intestinal barrier function. Additionally, taurine supplementation increased the relative abundance of beneficial microorganisms and modulated intestinal metabolites. The findings suggest that taurine can be used as a feed additive to prevent intestinal damage by regulating intestinal microorganisms and metabolites. [Extracted from the article]
