A recent report from the University of Louisville discusses the relationship between obesity, diabetes, and cardiovascular disease. The study focuses on the role of perivascular adipose tissue (PVAT) in modulating vascular health. The researchers found that when PVAT expands due to a high-fat diet, it contributes to the development of endothelial dysfunction (ED), a condition associated with diabetes. The study also highlights the role of aldose reductase (AR) in mediating ED and suggests that AR could be a potential target for intervention. [Extracted from the article] |
