Researchers at Christian Medical College in Vellore, India conducted a retrospective study on the management of aggressive spinal haemangiomas. The study analyzed the clinical and radiological features of 24 patients with aggressive spinal haemangiomas treated between 2004 and 2016. The most common presenting complaints were back pain and myelopathy. Surgical interventions, such as laminectomy with or without fusion, and corpectomy with fusion, resulted in significant clinical improvement, while alcohol injection alone did not improve symptoms. The study concluded that aggressive surgical decompression combined with preoperative adjuncts, such as angioembolization, can lead to good neurological recovery in patients with severe myelopathy.
