A recent study conducted by researchers at the University of Split in Croatia explores the potential of extended reality (XR) technology to enhance telemedicine systems. The study proposes an XR-based telemedicine collaboration system that utilizes 3D body pose estimation to create a 3D patient avatar. The system includes an AR client application, a VR client application, and a backend part running on a server. The research highlights the benefits of using 3D body pose estimation for creating a patient avatar, reducing system complexity and resource requirements. The proposed system also ensures high frame rates and acceptable processing latency. For more information, the full article can be accessed for free at the provided link.
