A recent study conducted by researchers at Panjab University in Chandigarh, India, explored the potential benefits of b-pinene in treating Alzheimer's disease. The study focused on the effects of b-pinene on mitochondrial dysfunction and oxidative stress, which are associated with the development of Alzheimer's disease. The researchers used an animal model of Alzheimer's disease induced by intracerebroventricular streptozotocin (ICV-STZ) and administered different doses of b-pinene orally for 21 days. The results showed that b-pinene treatment improved cognitive function and reduced oxidative stress and mitochondrial dysfunction in the ICV-STZ rat model. This research suggests that b-pinene may have neuroprotective properties and could be a potential therapeutic option for Alzheimer's disease. [Extracted from the article] |
