Abstrakt: Researchers from Heinrich-Heine-University in Dusseldorf, Germany have conducted a study on continuous wet granulation and drying in pharmaceutical research. They developed a mass and energy balance (MEB) for a vibrated fluidised bed dryer, which can predict the loss-on-drying (LOD) over time without the need for additional sensors. The model-derived data showed good agreement with the observed LOD, indicating that the MEB could be used as a soft sensor. The research also provided insights into heat transfer and the required energy for drying under specific conditions. This study was supported by Projekt DEAL and published in the Journal of Pharmaceutical Innovation. [Extracted from the article]
