Abstrakt: A recent study conducted in Poland aimed to determine the genetic diversity of Echinococcus multilocularis in pigs in highly endemic areas. The researchers analyzed samples from pigs' livers in four provinces of Poland and found seven haplotypes for one mitochondrial gene and four haplotypes for another. The study confirmed the presence of the Asian-like haplotype in both genes, as well as a similarity in the geographical distribution of haplotypes between pigs and foxes in the same regions. This research provides further insight into the genetic diversity of Echinococcus multilocularis in Central Europe. [Extracted from the article]
