Abstrakt: A recent report discusses the importance of sharing data and samples in Alzheimer's disease and related dementias (ADRD) research. The availability of biological samples and detailed clinical data has been crucial in understanding the biology and development of effective therapeutics for ADRD. However, participants in clinical trials are often not consented to allow their samples to be used for broader research goals, limiting the availability of well-characterized samples. To address this, the National Institute on Aging (NIA) has developed infrastructure, such as the National Centralized Repository for Alzheimer's Disease and Related Dementias (NCRAD), to facilitate the banking, sharing, and distribution of samples. The NIA has also established data repositories to make the generated data available to the research community. The report emphasizes the advantages of working across studies and trials and discusses the challenges and considerations in sharing data and samples with the research community.
