A recent study conducted by researchers at Universita Campus Bio-Medico di Roma in Italy focuses on the global spread of avian influenza (bird flu) among birds and mammals. The study aims to provide an open-access dataset of avian influenza outbreaks to aid researchers and policymakers in detecting and responding to animal outbreaks, conducting investigations, and communicating the risk. The researchers analyzed data on highly pathogenic avian influenza outbreaks in domestic poultry and wild birds in Italy from October 2021 to July 2023, and also explored the use of economic indices in epidemiology.
