A recent report from Maastricht University Medical Center discusses a survey conducted to understand the current practices and future directions in the use of fan-beam computed tomography (CT) in radiation therapy (RT). The survey collected information on the use of CT imaging for dose calculation and structure delineation. The research found that single-energy CT scans are commonly used for dose calculation in photon therapy, with limited use of dual-energy CT. For brachytherapy, most institutions use water-based dose calculation. The study also highlighted variations in quality assurance practices and testing frequencies. [Extracted from the article] |
