Abstrakt: The plasmonic behaviour of synthesized copper nanorods (Cu-NRs) plays an important role in redox processes as well as in coupling. A benign decarboxylative approach is developed to produce alkane analogues from corresponding alkyl carboxylic acids using these Cu-NRs via localised surface plasmon resonance (LSPR) assisted catalysis under visible light. A broad substrate scope and functional group tolerance are observed without any external oxidant or proton source. A plausible mechanism has also been proposed for this recyclable nano-catalyst based on some control experiments. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]
