Abstrakt: This article features an interview with David Gouverneur, an expert in urban planning and sustainable design. Gouverneur discusses the potential of informal cities in sustainable development and emphasizes the need to reduce disparities between formal and informal cities. He proposes the Informal Armatures Approach (IAA), which involves creating corridors, patches, and stewards to support the development of informal settlements. Gouverneur argues that proactive political support and the assembly of public lands are crucial for implementing this approach. He also highlights the importance of protecting ecological components and involving communities in the planning process. The article also discusses the Integrated Approach to Architecture (IAA) and its application in informal settlements in developing countries. The IAA emphasizes the importance of identifying and mapping assets in these settlements, such as communal gardens and green infrastructure, and associating them with community stewards. Attractor Corridors are used to draw urbanization and economic activities to favorable locations, while Patches serve as urban infill and provide self-constructed dwellings and supplementary uses. The IAA also addresses climate change and pollution through preemptive actions and the rehabilitation of existing urban areas. The use of local materials and construction technologies is also highlighted, as well as the combination of digital tools and project practice in the design process. The article further discusses the process of the Integrated Approach to Area (IAA) methodology, which combines manual and digital techniques to design and plan urban areas. The methodology involves site analysis, participatory charrettes with [Extracted from the article]
