Abstrakt: A recent study conducted by researchers at King Saud University in Saudi Arabia has isolated and identified a novel compound called Viscomarfadol from the leaves of the Dodonaea viscosa plant. The study evaluated the neuroprotective effects of the plant extract against cerebral ischemia-reperfusion injury in a rat model. The results showed that pre-treatment with the extract improved neurological outcomes, reduced infarct volume, and enhanced antioxidant activities. The researchers suggest that Dodonaea viscosa could be developed as an adjuvant therapy for ischemic stroke and other neurodegenerative disorders. Further research is needed to explore other bioactive compounds in the plant and their potential neuroprotective activities. [Extracted from the article]
