Researchers from Najran University in Saudi Arabia have developed a chimeric vaccine design against Kingella kingae, a Gram-negative bacterium that primarily causes pediatric infections. The vaccine targets the conserved beta-barrel TonB-dependent receptor (TBDR) domain of outer membrane proteins in the bacterium. Using bioinformatic tools, the researchers identified antigenic epitopes and designed a chimeric vaccine construct that elicited a robust immune response. The vaccine was predicted to be safe and non-allergenic, making it a promising candidate for further development and potential prevention of K. kingae infections. [Extracted from the article] |
