Abstrakt: A report from Al-Azhar University in Cairo, Egypt discusses the treatment of trichinellosis, a food-borne parasitic disease that can cause severe tissue damage. The study aimed to evaluate the effectiveness of atorvastatin and mesenchymal stem cells combined with ivermectin in treating different phases of the disease in mice. The researchers found that the combination of mesenchymal stem cells and atorvastatin with ivermectin showed the most significant reduction in worm and larvae counts, improved histopathological changes, and had anti-inflammatory and anti-angiogenic effects. The study suggests that this combination could be a promising treatment for trichinellosis. [Extracted from the article]
