A recent study conducted at Kyushu University Hospital in Fukuoka, Japan, examined the effects of ondansetron on postoperative nausea and vomiting (PONV) and food intake in Japanese women undergoing laparoscopic gynecological surgery. The study included 632 adult patients and found that ondansetron administration during surgery was associated with a decreased risk of PONV, but did not have a significant impact on food intake the day after surgery. The study concluded that preventing PONV is important for postoperative recovery, and ondansetron can be effective in achieving this goal. This research has been peer-reviewed.
