A recent study conducted at the Giridhar Eye Institute in Kerala, India, focused on the opacification of intraocular lenses (IOLs) after cataract surgery. The study found that this condition is more common with hydrophilic IOLs and less common with hydrophobic IOLs. The researchers presented a case of an 81-year-old woman who experienced a decrease in vision in her left eye due to an opacified IOL. Anterior segment optical coherence tomography (ASOCT) was used to diagnose the condition, and the patient underwent IOL exchange, resulting in improved vision. This research provides valuable insights into the diagnosis and treatment of IOL opacification. [Extracted from the article] |
